About this Call
Theme: Scale
In partnership with LOVEU4EVER, we are proud to announce an open call for video art submissions for a secret event at the Illuminarium (To be announced).
What is the Illuminarium?
Located in the Distillery District, The Illuminarium is the largest immersive experience venue in Toronto. The space boasts state-of-the-art projections on large floor-to-ceiling surfaces that wrap around the whole venue.
What event is this for?
Event to be announced. We are teaming up with LOVEU4EVER for a special immersive party experience that will be unveiled in November.
What should I submit?
The theme for this open call is Scale. We are calling for existing or new Video Works that have a larger than life or ethereal feel that gives a sense of depth and immersion.
Since this is an immersive space with large-scale video projection, submitting artists must be okay with collaborating with the Illuminarium Technical team to modify their works to accommodate and take full advantage of the unique space.

Deadline: November 2nd, 2025
Details & Guidelines
- Ten artists will be chosen for this open call by a jury.
- Each artist will receive an honorarium of $600.
Format
- All submissions must be in Video Format
- Artists can submit up to 5 videos to be displayed.
- All submissions should be in MP4 format.
- Although you may lower the resolution for submission purposes, selected artists must supply videos that are 1080p or over, 4K preferred.
Process
- Selected artists will collaborate onsite with MakeRoom and the Illuminarium technicians to format their artwork in creative ways to fit the venue’s immersive format.
- Artists must be available for at least two site visits with the Illuminarium technical team in Toronto.
Selection Criteria
- Artwork will be selected using the following criteria: Aesthetic Quality & Theme Cohesion.
- Artwork with hate speech, graphic depictions of violence and/or nudity will not be qualified for submission.
AI Policy
MakeRoom embraces the creative use of new technologies to enhance artistic expression. Acceptable use of AI in an open call will be determined on a case-by-case basis. Any use of AI must be accurately disclosed and described at the time of submission.
In the case of doubt about the use of AI to create the submitted artwork, MakeRoom may request more information. Failure to provide the requested information within 2 business days may result in disqualification.
MakeRoom reserves the right to disqualify any entry that has been entered in violation of these requirements.
